About Choghadiya

Ghadi is an ancient Indian time unit, approximately 24 minutes long. Choghadiya (चौघड़िया) means four Ghadi, totaling about 96 minutes. These time periods are used to determine auspicious and inauspicious moments for important activities.

There are seven types of Choghadiya:

  • Amrit, Shubh, and Labh – Highly auspicious
  • Char – Neutral / Good
  • Udveg, Kaal, and Rog – Inauspicious
